*head in hands mumbling *

I can't do this anymore!!!

*deep breath*

Okay I'm officially really sick of school. I can't get motivated. The bf even tried to bribe me by promising to take me out to a (classical) concert if I did well this quarter and I know he doesn't like that kind of thing but even though I think it would be awesome if he actually went with me to a concert even that doesn't seem to be enough motivation for me.

I want to go home. And do nothing productive. I want to have the kind of worry-free life I had the summer before college. My head is exhausted and I don't know what to do. I can't think, and I'm really worried about my grades this quarter, but I still can't seem to get my rear into gear (rhyme..HA)

I'm feeling sick and really kind of lonely for whatever reason.

Time for me to go to sleep.

Because, dammit, I have to wake up tomorrow morning.

R called his sister to tell her that she should harvest her eggs because it's good money and besides, she's past her prime.

What a good little brother is he.

When I accidentally fell asleep while reading last night and I felt him take my book from me and kiss me on the cheek...I swear, I fell in love all over again.

February 23, 2003

A few weeks ago I talked to Dirty D and he asked if the bf looked at other girls. I asked him why, do you? He then said "I can't help it!"
My girlfriend complains that I look at other women too much. I tell her that I'm just looking, nothing more. But she's still very jealous. I don't know what to do. I can't help looking; after all, men are more visual than women.
--Eyes Wide Open

I really hate it when men claim they're more "visual." Women are just as visual, if not more. We notice everything--why do you think so many of us are so picky about what we wear? Visual, shmisual: You have roving eyes because you're inconsiderate. Loving boyfriends make their girlfriends feel like they're the most beautiful woman in the world. Sure, they look at other women, but they're subtle about it. When guys blatantly look at other women too often, it makes their girlfriends feel less beautiful, less desirable, and hence, less of a woman. So if you want your girlfriend to feel like shit, go ahead, keep looking at other women, especially when she's sitting right next to you.
-Cherry Wong, Male Troubles

More on my weekend later.

February 22, 2003

The one who brought me chocolate covered gummi bears who drove thirty miles at midnight to see me for two hours even though I was sweaty and smelled like teriyaki smoke who sang old madonna songs to make me smile when I was doubled over with cramps who'd call me to say "I love you" who would talk to me for four-five hours night after night who ran to get me orange juice at school the morning I woke up with a sore throat and then made sure I drank at least half of it who would draw on me when I fell asleep in class who made me a valentines card out of pink and red construction paper and who finally put himself in my shoes and tried to understand my point of view and apologized to me last night.

Which I'm extremely grateful for.

So although I'm technically okay, I still feel kind of weird. For whatever reason.

Weird and terribly, terribly homesick.

whine whine whine...

We complain when we do have boyfriends and we complain when we don't.

whine whine whine...

...and life is never going well is it? *sigh* are we destined to be forever discontented?

....except for that first one month after you find somebody...

Don't you miss it? I know I do.

Time runs its course and there's nothing I can do to stop it. At least I've seen reality.

I AM A BUNNY KILLER!

Roomie M and I were driving back to the apartment from the library yesterday night, when out of fricken NOWHERE this bunny appears in front of my car and just sits there! I didn't see it until I was about a foot away from it (going at about 40 mph) sooo...it was a little hard to avoid the little furry thing. I was hoping that it had somehow gotten out of the way or that my tires missed it but I felt a little *bump* so so much for that. After that Roomie M insisted on going back to look at the thing all small and squashed on its side and then after we got to the apartment parking lot and told Apes and DJ about it she named the thing. Tabitha/Peter rabbit.

So if you happened to drive down Michelson today and noticed a little squashed bunny on the right side of the left turn lane that goes into Park West...that would be mine.

February 16, 2003

Hello everybody. Valentines Day turned out okay. Well, okay considering I fell asleep before twelve (oops =X). Anyhow, the bf came over at around seven-thirty and we exchanged gifts. He had made me a card =) We went to dinner at Macaroni Grill. I don't think he had ever been there before, because he got really excited when he saw the crayons and took them all away from me and when the waitress came she had to ask him for two of them. She was able to write her name upside down starting from the last letter which was very cool. Then we went back to his place. There was a litter of pink and red construction paper all over his floor; all the leftover mess from the making of my card =) I fell asleep not long after we got back. I didn't even change.

Anyhow, woke up late the next day. Went to work, then went to the bf's sister's birthday get together thing. Very convenient. She lives in the apartment next to mine. I drank a non-alcoholic margarita and met a guy who knows one of my second-cousins and another guy who knew a lot of Jr. YBA people from waaay back when.

Went back to the bf's place and fell asleep promptly. Slept really well, then in the morning woke up in a panic, realizing I had forgotten to set my alarm. Turns out it was only seven thirty so I chilled in bed for another 45 minutes or so. Went back to the apartment to go fetch the bf's car then headed over to Nishi, speeding down the freeway with the sunroof cracked open a couple inches and the radio blasting. It was a really nice morning.

Had lunch today with Mogy and Juniper at Mitsuwa, where we got four air fresheners for our cars. One for each of us, and an extra for Morsel. Apple scented My Shaladan air freshener. Yummy. The same kind that Damy had in his car ;D

(k)sh (no >r =\) tonight. Can't hardly wait.

February 14, 2003

I was all alone in the apartment talking online. Sunflower Girl kept me company and we had an online girls night out. So we went to Starbucks.com where she took my order of a tall iced nonfat upside down caramel macchiato and I took her order of a tall white chocolate mocha w/ whipped cream and then she had to go to RiteAid.com (our favorite hangout).

I love that girl =) But then it was six so I went to go move my car onto the street and then when I got back she left a message telling me that she had to go on a Taco Bell run for her brother.

And then I went on away because I suddenly felt too depressed to chat.

BAZZINI: Ronde des Lutins ("Dance of the Goblins"), op.25
Kavakos, Leonidas, violin
Nagy, Peter, piano
Delos: 3116
Very technical violin and piano duo. I'd love to hear it live.

Trying to figure out why my hair looked so nice yesterday and so crappy today.

Oh yes, guess who's going to have cousins? Turns out my youngest auntie (she's my mom's age) is engaged to a guy with three kids. I just found out recently. No one tells me anything mang.

T: He keeps his dogs in a box so he can eat them later.
R: I'm not Korean.
T: Chinese people eat dog too!
R: Not as much as Koreans.
T: I saw a picture of dogs hanging in a window in China. It was in my sociology book.

Something I heard while waiting for the TA to come back to lead an art history review session...I don't know either of them too well, but R is Chinese and T, I believe, is Korean.

Anyway, I'm at work. Must go soon. Blah.

February 12, 2003

For anyone who has wandered over here via this link on the rbj boards... and I suppose anyone in general.

I actually found the site a long time ago linked from LYD.com. I thought it was kind of funny (that's just my sense of humor) but I wasn't exactly sure about the origins of the site and what the intentions of the makers were so I didn't link it. However, the subject of the Perettis came up one day during my Asian American Studies lecture when Prof. Mimura was talking about sweatshop workers. In passing, he mentioned that the Perettis were the brains behind blackpeopleloveus.com. Since then I've revisited the site and have come to the conclusion that the Jonah and Chelsea Peretti created the site with nothing but the best intentions. Some people find the site offensive, and I think that they expected that. My personal interpretation of the site is that it was meant to get certain stereotypes out in the open and promote awareness of them. I think (keywords being I think) that most people who go to the site see the photos, testimonials, etc. and see that they're pretty ridiculous, yet at the same time have a smidge of truth in them that is enough to make some viewers look at some of their own words/actions and cringe. Plus, black people were the focus of the site, but black stereotypes weren't the only ones present in the site. As was pointed out in one of the letters featured on the site, the creators used some white stereotypes as well. Just check out the about us section and you'll see what I mean.

The Perettis have a sense of humor, granted it is rather tongue-in-cheek, hence the NikeID correspondance. I find it amusing. Some people don't. That's just my two cents.

Here's another Peretti creation: RejectionLine.com. Quite hilarious, if I do say so myself =D

There is much to post but I have two midterms tomorrow and very little time to study for them.

I'm at home right now, wanting to sleep but needing to study. What a dilemma.

Going to drive back to the OG OC in a few hours after traffic dies down. Peaceisms.

February 08, 2003

This website is very cool.

Evidently, the man and woman in featured in the website (Johnny and Sally) are actually siblings (dammit siblings!)--the Perettis. Jonah Peretti is the one who asked Nike to embroider the word "sweatshop" on a pair of shoes using NikeID. After some lengthy debate (via email) with Nike on how the word "sweatshop" is a perfectly acceptable word (i.e. not profane, racist, slang, etc.) to put on his shoes he finally gave up, requesting instead a "snapshot of the ten-year-old Vietnamese girl who makes [his] shoes". Nike didn't respond.

And that's what I learned in Asian American Studies 60B.

*I'd been misinformed...the people in the site are actors.

Yesterday I...
-Got less than four hours of sleep (this is important)
-Jumped one of those concrete things in the parking lot.
-Misjudged the automatic door and nearly walked into a window.
-Ran into an armrest as I was walking out of calculus.
-Ate hardly anything.
-Fell asleep around eleven.

Smiling Guy Standing Behind Me: These doors are tricky.

How embarassing. I was hoping nobody had seen.

So far, this year completely sucks.

I'm at work right now, waiting for the last fifteen minutes of my shift to be over so I can go to class. I'm tired and my homework for my ICS class completely sucks. Just finished scrambling for a sub for Saturday (thank goodness for P) so R wouldn't have to work a nine-hour shift (nice guy).

February 02, 2003

I had never had a Cinnabon until the bf gave me a piece last week. It was really good. So anyway, when I heard that the Brother had gotten into both the school of engineering and was one of the three oboes selected to go into the school of music at USC, I decided that I'd treat him to a Cinnabon =)

I have cramps.

Did you know that there was a Museum of Menstruation? Me neither.

This year was the first year I ever got money for Chinese/Vietnamese New Year. I think it totals up to $1.01 (I can thank the bf for a portion of that amount...can you guess how much?)

Off I go to Orange County-land.

Flags are at half-staff today.

Stumbled across this earlier. Lets clean toilets with our tongues and bleed ourselves dry.

Yesterday I went to school with my shirt inside out. Thank feekin goodness for my sweatshirt.

Oh yeah...and I'm not the only one who thought they were saying "hey Josie"!
