At the boyfriend's place. Just came back from shopping.

I got Sex and the City's season 5 on dvd today...! Thirty dollars at Fry's. Can't beat that.

Might go see Return of the King in a bit. Waiting for him to get out of the shower.

Peace out folks.

December 28, 2003

HA I double posted and didn't even know it. Okay anyway....

Hollie's birthday thing ended up being fun. I popped a couple of Tylenol and was feeling a lot better by the time I left to go pick everyone up. Dinner was great, except I ate way too many garlic rolls so I wasn't too hungry when my dinner came. We had a waitress named Kari who was great :) The only problem? She didn't give us crayons to draw on our table with. Oh well.

Christmas was good. Kit came over to my place since his family had gone up north for the holidays and he was home alone. Thanks to everybody for their gifts and cards and xmas greetings :)

Isn't it funny how the older you get, the less joy Christmas seems to have? This Xmas was an exception. Probably a combination of having my brother back home and having Kit there. Plus...Steph called! Poor thing was stuck working from seven (in the morning!) until midnight on Christmas. Anyhow, she flew back in from Davis the day after. Glad to know she's back home :)

The next day Kat called me (of course, I didn't get her message until yesterday night but whatev), telling me that she got her number from Damon. I haven't talked to her since this past summer (when I still had my old cell) and haven't seen her since....my god I can't remember.

I spent that evening with my Nishi girls (Lina, Leanne, Leslie, and Denise). We met up at Leanne's place then headed out for Paseo Colorado. We shopped, had dinner at Islands and then saw Cold Mountain. Truth is? I didn't really want to see it until I heard about all the awards it was nominated for. Even after that, I only wanted to see it because it was supposed to be good and not becasue I thought it was going to be good. It ended up being a really good (albeit long) movie. By the time we got out of the theater it was past one and freezing.

You know, we'd known each other virtually all of our lives and have done so many things together. We've watched movies, had formal dinners, stayed in hotels, gone on retreats, gone to Magic Mountain, made dinner, had sleepovers, etc. Yet that night was the first time we'd ever actually gone to a sit-down restaurant together. Go figure.

On Saturday I did nothing of importance. And in a way? It felt really good.

Sex and the City's 5th season is coming out on DVD on the 30th! I thought I was going to have to wait until April/May to go buy it, but then I realized that season five was a short season (due to the pregnancies of SJP and...I think Cyntia Nixon was pregnant too...?) so I guess that's why it's being released early :) For those of you who don't know, I'm a SATC addict without cable. I'm a season behind. Such a shame the show is ending :(

(i have lots of pictures but i forgot my card reader at school...until then...no pics :()

December 23, 2003

ACK okay so I got an email from Hollie the other day about eating dinner on Sunday. I thought she meant this coming Sunday. Looks like I should check my email more often, because it turns out that email was meant for last Sunday and that we're going out to dinner tonight for her birthday and not this coming Sunday.

Feezies. I feel like crap, but I'm going to bundle up nice and warm and go anyway because I love Ho Ho and also because C&O Trattoria has such good garlic rolls ;)

My stomach feels funky again, but I think that this time it's because I'm hungry.

Time to get ready.

AGHH I think I'm sick. Except I don't have a temperature. Other than that, it feels like the flu.

I was showering and suddenly felt extremely dizzy. I rinsed off and got out and tried to dry off, but I could barely stand so I just wrapped my towel around me and stumbled off to the bathroom that we keep the thermometer in. I felt so gross. I thought I was either going to faint or (eek) throw up. Plus my hands were starting to tingle. The thermometer was taking too long so I just crept off to my room and dumped myself in bed. When I woke up about an hour ago, I wasn't dizzy anymore, but my hands were still tingling and now my whole body is aching like a mofo. I just took my temperature and it's at 98.something, which, I believe, is normal.

Blargh.

RBJ

Forgot to mention that I got quoted on RBJ (thanks Carlos :)) The entry that got quoted is here... quite a ways back. I'm surprised that he spotted that one amidst all of my other entries. Most of what I write doesn't make sense even to me.

My user photo for the "Bowl" was actually taken the afternoon after I found out my grandmother died, which is why my eyes are all puffy in the picture. I think I was playing with the timer and I ended up with a photo of myself in profile. I decided to keep it and use it as my userpic because one, it was probably the best profile photo I have of myself (profile photos show less of your face :X) and two, it actually looked better in black and white. Well, that's the story behind that.

I just finished decorating the tree. I used to decorate it with my dad and brother when I was younger, but now it's just me. We also used to have a real tree. A potted one. Most people find that strange.

My eyes are burning from the dust that I stirred up unpacking all of the ornaments.

My brother is here with his girlfriend watching my copy of Chicago. Yet another dvd we have two of. My dad and I are both compulsive dvd buyers. Except he has more money than I do... hence the reason why he has more dvds than I do.

I think I'm going to go watch a dvd and let my brain rot. It's winter break and I give myself full permission to do so.

Goo goo goo and ta ta!

ALRIGHTY THEN! I've been at work for two hours and we have not had a SINGLE PATRON!! YAY!

So here we go again (it's been a while, no?)

I'm looking for...

A guy who is secure enough to comment on the attractiveness of another guy.

I had a bunch of those last month

Raise your hand if you're a guy who uses lip balm
For guys who like to dress up
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet...Structure v. Express Men
I think girls should pay sometimes...do you?
And on a side note...

Rules according to DJ

-Open the door for her
-If you're walking down the sidewalk, let her walk on the inside
-If you're going up the stairs, walk behind her in case she falls
-If you're going down the stairs, walk ahead of her for the same reason
-If not on the stairs, walk besides her.

What a nice guy :D

Neener lent me two CDs last Sunday. They were both of Hawaiian groups. I really like the Keahiwai CD, "Satisfied". Both girls have really nice voices. Plus they have a different sort of vibrato that's really pretty...it's looser and more open or something. I don't know how to describe it. It's just different. Anyway, I'm probably going to burn the CDs for now, and if I ever run across them in a store (in Hawaii...=X) I'll prob pick it up :) Thanks Neener :D

Now that I have a regular mouse (as opposed to a touchpad) I can actually catch flies :) My personal record...10 flies :D

My dad is crazy. He buys the most random DVDs. I swear, every time I come home he has at least one new one. Recent acquisitions? Pirates of the Carribean (good movie) and Finding Nemo (:)). Most surprising new acquisition? 8 Mile. Don't ask.

(link) Midori | 0 comments | 10:14 PM

Just checked final grades and I swear I was so scared I thought I was going to pee in my pants. Lets just say that they were none too spectacular, but I think I passed. Well, I already know I passed Japanese (I think I could have passed w/o taking the final) and now I know I passed ICS121 and I think I passed ICS151 (I think :() and now all I have to worry about is As. Am Studies and for those of you who think that I'm a moron for worrying about a breadth class I'll have you know this I CAN'T WRITE TO SAVE MY LIFE (although I'd think that would be self-evident after reading my blog) and yeah I have the crappy essay grades to prove it so anyway I'm going to go talk to the professor tomorrow to see how bleak my future really is and he really is quite a nice guy so yes. Anyway, the quarter is over and I'm very happy about that.

Oh yeah, had a great time on Thursday ;D We all stayed up until five, even Christy, who had to wake up early and Xinlei, who had a 10:30am final (hope you did okay...!) Unfortunately for me, Xinlei has most of the photos.

Oh yes, I discovered yesterday that neither of my parents turn red when they drink (a genetic thing) and that if I take after my mother's side, I have a relatively high tolerance. Family reunion type thing yesterday. My mom's side likes beer.

Asia Weblog Awards

If you know and love these journals (like I do :)) and you haven't voted for them already, go vote Carlos (founder of rbj) for Best Philippines Blog and Winnie for Best journal/diary. I'm very upset that she's not #1 because her journal is one of my favorites. Not to mention that I'm sort of dubious about the journal that is number one right now. Go take a look and you'll see what I mean =\ Carlos is currently at #1 (thanks to my vote ;D) but let's make sure he stays there :D

My legs feel really smooth. It's the first time in a long time that I didn't do a half-assed job of shaving and moisturizing them.

Fark I can't believe I'm getting distracted by my own legs.

December 09, 2003

Oh my GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH my Asian Am. studies professor just cut the number of final essays down from two to one thanks to our WONDERFUL TAs!! I could kiss all of them, even the freakishly tall french woman who kind of scared me (aka my TA =0) My guess is, they didn't want to have to grade all those essays (esp. considering they haven't even finished grading the last batch of essays) but WHATEVER as long as I don't have to two it's all good :)

After our 121 final, Garrett was trying to figure out how to make money using Henry. After rejecting the idea of selling him on the street (he didn't think people would pay for him) he decided that he could have Henry give people rides to their classes in one of the UCI golf cart things (Henry works for UCI parking and gets to drive them sometimes).

Garrett: Ten dollars a ride!

Okay, maybe I just have a dirty mind but HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I thought that was funny...but no one else seemed to...?

Maybe I'm just lame :P

Anyway....time to stop procrastinating....

*sigh*

Mmm...I don't think I want anything for Christmas this year. You all can just cross me off of your lists (assuming I was on anyones list...?). One less person to worry about :)

It's giving me a headache.

Oh mah lord...

Waiter: ...Yakiniku does not taste bad. It is delicious! I really like you!
Wait...there's more...

Customer: Well, then I'll have yakiniku. Which drinks are good?

Waiter: Hmm...I like barley tea…is this good?

Customer: Yes. No thank you. I'll have yakiniku and barley tea. How much?

...and more (this next part is a diff dialogue btw)

Bored: Today is boring, isn't it?

Friend: No, the weather is nice, isn't it? Do you want to take a walk?

...and later on in the second dialogue...

Friend: Do you like movies?

Bored: They're kind of good. But funny ones are good.

Friend: Yes. Lets look at a new movies list.

Bored: No thanks.

Friend: Ah! Of course! Good evening the theater has Elf. Want to watch it?

Okay...so we have to prepare some dialogues for our Japanese final. I'm paired with this...girl. So yes, she sends me a couple of dialogues for me to look over. They sounded a little strange to me (my Japanese ain't that great), so imagine what they must have sounded like to Christy who actually speaks Japanese. She almost died when I read them to her.

Okay, so maybe it's kind of mean of me to make fun of her like this, but she's just...one of those people that thinks she's all that (or so it seems) in class. She probably thinks I'm a moron because I don't participate voluntarily. Whatever.

Yeah yeah yeah I'm a bitch. She probably thinks so too. Well I think she's annoying. So there.

I think we'd better use my dialogues...=X

Thanks to Christy for the rough translation ;D Do you think I'm mean?

December 03, 2003

okay a patron just highfived me.

i think that upcoming finals are making everyone a bit crazy.

(link) Midori | 0 comments | 10:35 PM

There's a patron here who's weirding me out. First he came up to the desk and said "Can I get some headphones you sassy thing?" so yeah...I gave him this look like WTF mate? and he just cracked up and was like "Sorry sorry sorry". About 30 minutes later as he was leaving the room with his friend he said "I'll be back. See you Sassy."

WTF?

(link) Midori | 0 comments | 7:01 PM

oh no...

not kevyn nojima.. that's horrible... we still feel young but we're so much older now... it's weird and it's scary.. don't ever leave me kelly.

December 02, 2003

In honor of our upcoming finals...
when im feelin stressed i do what i do best
bust rhymes and bust caps in fake niggas' chests
but you best take a rest, cause here come the tests
feelin oppressed by the I C S

yo, if youre feelin stunned, keep your hands on your guns
one more week to run and this shit is done
cause hear me out son, when you comin undone, feelin outrun, hey, the shows just begun ... takin tests by the ton, one by one
but don't worry none
one week and you're done

the Tan man says, keep ya head on straight
it may be a sad state, i wont elaborate
but if ya just wait, and don't show up late learn to lean on fate cause God don't debate
and don't be a hater
your life'll get greater, sooner or later

now that the Tan man let you know wassup,
clap ya hands cause there's nowhere to go but up

That was by the infamous M. TAN (the foo who was posing as my ICS22 LARC tutor first year). Yay M.TAN!

Denise has her own domain now! Her bf, Andy (Bakersfield boy) bought it for her. He also bought her a necklace that I really really like (hinthint =X). Anyway...

I think I'm going to go buy food after work. I don't know what to get =\ Nothing is open at 11 o clock. Not like LA, where every other place is open 24 hours.

Leanne convinced Neener and I to get some Vitamin Water. I still need to drink my "revive" water. Leanne says it works for her, but she also said that it might be psychosomatic =P

Less than two hours of work left!

December 01, 2003

Holy crap. It really is one of those death years.

I heard from Ape and Ray that Kevyn Nojima died this past weekend. I didn't really know him, but strangely enough I was thinking about him last Friday when I was at this Korean restaurant. The last time I had gone to that restaurant I saw him there with his then-girlfriend Lisa. He was pretty closely tied to the JA community through basketball. He used to coach a team full of a bunch of girls I know with one of my second cousins. Anyhow, the news kind of freaked me out. Although I only knew him by sight, he seems like the last person you'd think would die so young (he was only a couple years ahead of me in high school). Holy crap. It's so sad.

Well, there's a lot more that I want to write about, but I have to finish unpacking and get going on my homework ;P I'll be back later.
