I think I am obsessed with beautiful people. Primarily women.

But I think we all are.

Bic Runga

Okay, since I discovered that Bic Runga was Asian (half Maori half Malaysian) I read up a little on her (she has a sister named Boh who is the frontwoman of a band called Stellar) and downloaded some of her songs to check out her sound and you know what she's really really good. Some of the songs are a bit too moody and abstract for my taste, but she's a great lyricist and has really different music. She actually writes stuff in 3/4 and uses instruments like the clarinet. I find that very unusual for someone who is considered pop/rock. Or maybe I'm too sheltered in my little radio world. Whatever.

Anyway, I'm currently loving the song Sorry (it's on her first album) and Get Some Sleep (on her second album). If you haven't heard of her before, check out Sway from the American Pie soundtrack, and Good Morning Baby from the Cruel Intentions soundtrack.

I managed to get my hands on Beautiful Collision, her second album, at Tower this afternoon. I'm having a little trouble locating Drive. I guess I'll order that one online. Maybe after I get paid this week.

Last Weekend

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!!!

Free at last...at least for now ;P Okay not really. Just for this weekend.

* * *

Last week was Chinese Culture Night and because our lovely roommate the lovely miss XL was in it, we went. She did traditional dance (see above) and had the part of Guanyin (I don't know if that's right...that's the spelling we used in art history) in the play (see below). It was a good show :)

* * *

There was a zither player at CCN...the chinese zither looks a lot like the japanese one. Except it has more strings and the bridges are shaped a little differently...other than that they look pretty much the same. I wanted to see if I could still play so when I got home I pulled it out, put it on the floor (too lazy to set up the stand) tuned it (kinda guesstimated since I can't read all of the characters used for tuning)and sat on the floor and gave it a go. Guess what? I can still play. Of course, things didn't go as smoothly as they used to, found myself reaching for the wrong strings sometimes, but other than that it was good. Kinda like riding a bike. Keep in mind that I haven't touched it since May of my senior year in high school...that was three years ago. It's good to know that I haven't lost it.

SATC Season Six!!!

My Sex and the City season 6 (part one only...boo) arrived at my house on Monday :D

I had it sent there (as opposed to having it sent to my apartment) on purpose so I couldn't watch it until the weekend. I have so much homework this week. The last thing I need is another distraction ;P

That's all :)

Friday

Yesterday the bf treated me to dinner (yay pasta) and then we went back to his place to watch movies. Watched Intolerable Cruelty (bizarre and not that great) and Monster. I thought Monster was good, but bf thought it wasn't too wonderful. bf no longer finds lesbians all that hot.

I'm at work right now. Must do homework.

MY Day

Today I have resolved to do no homework.

Today is MY day.

If I had it my way I wouldn't go to school either.

But I had homework due, a quiz, and work :(

But I'm not going to work on my homework today.

Because if Christy can resolve not to go to class for the rest of the semester, I can resolve not to do homework for the rest of the day.

Goo goo goo and ta ta.

ARGHHHH

I guess that's what they get for being spies

Yeap, a person said that to me a while back. Said person had asked me whether any of my family members were interned (I'm Japanese-American) and then said that. Do not say shit like that, at least not to me. I don't care if you were joking. I don't think it's funny.

Maybe I'm overreacting. Maybe it's because it hits too close to home. Maybe it's because you're literally talking about my family.

I can deal with some things. As much as I hate the word Jap, I know that a lot of people are unaware that it was used as a derogatory term. There are a lot of Japanese who don't know that. Plus, Jap is probably the most obvious way to shorten Japanese or Japan. Whatever. But that up there isn't okay, not with me.

Just had to get that out of my system.

Styna: (Drawing a picture of a girl getting bitten by a squirrel) Does "rabies" have one or two b's?

Me: One.

Styna: Dammit I shouldn't have changed it!

Me: Christy! Now it says "I got rabbis"!

Life has been pretty mundane lately. Plus I feel like I've been walking through some sort of haze. I think that's a valid explanation for my lack of blogs as of late. There's really not too much to write about.

Midterms went down badly.

Buuut that's about it.

:)

Condoms for Sale!

Okay...Derek thought being a rent boy was weird...but according to this site my ideal job is a condom salesperson.

Actually....

Nevermind.

What's your ideal job?

back

Hello beautiful freaks.

Okay, so it's way past Friday. But whatever. I had a good weekend after a long, sleep-deprived week of three midterms, a quiz and a project all crammed into two days, writing both in English and Japanese (neither of which went well due to my below-par grasp on both languages), and procrastionation like you wouldn't believe. And now that's over, so I'm back.

In any case, the roommate is sleeping and typing is loud.

Until later...

goo goo goo and ta ta

Be back Friday.

May 04, 2004

Ahhh...the blazing hot days and warm nights are bringing out the happy optimist in me. Despite the buttload of schoolwork and exams that are coming up, things are going good. Brother is coming down in a couple of weeks, roommates are great, bf is behaving quite well.

Anyway...

Here's something to amuse you. It's my maze-solver that clearly does not solve anything.

I've made progress. Now the ends of the path are in the right place. Too bad the middle section (i.e. the important part) is useless.

May 01, 2004

I woke up this morning and thought I was at home. Whenever I wake up confused about where I am, it means I slept well.

For some reason, part of the dream I had last night took place at the asylum in Quills. Prob because my coworker was talking about that movie yesterday at work...?

I'm feeling sort of slummy today.

Ra is coming back!

:D
