"It was kind of amazing. Why did I need a complete stranger to remind me of that?"

Hell if I know.

I'm in hiding folks. At least for the next few days.

Man I ate too much.

elmomonster

elmomonster:

So I took a look at the rest of the site (see above) I got the Genki Living review from (see below) and as it turns out he has tons and tons of food reviews...from Orange County and SGV no less! Most are from OC it seems, but there are a handful of reviews from back home where I generally spend my weekends. PERFECT.

Anyway, if you're from the area you should check it out. Lots of pictures. Makes me hungry.

Yet another company event where I am without a "plus one". However, most of the folk here are single so perhaps it's a good thing? Anyway, I somehow ended up in charge of organizing this event (open house) so perhaps it is for the best.

We went to Genki Living in Irvine for lunch this afternoon. Yay for finding a place that serves okonomiyaki! I got the Osaka style okonomiyaki. It had cabbage (of course), corn, and bacon in it and it was topped off with the mayo and okonomiyaki sauce and those dry fish shaving things that my mom puts on my tofu.

They also have good strawberry slushes. It actually tastes like strawberry and not some over-sugary "strawberry" syrup. The only good strawberry slush I've been able to buy prior to today was at Life Plaza in Rowland Heights. They were kind of icy and it would kind of separate but it tasted good. I brought one back to my then bf and he told me it was good but that he could make them better. And he did. But when he was gone it was no more slushes for me...until now :D Actually, this one isn't quite as good (not as fruity) but it comes close. Good enough for me.

My dad's nickname for me is peanut. I guess I never really thought about it until now when I saw it looking at me from my gmail inbox (because it displays the first few words in the email)... "Hi Peanut..."

To this day I still don't know how that came about. Hm.

<--lovely email from a lovely girl. So I guess I've been rather impossible lately but I suppose it won't be forever (at least according to Derek thank you thank you for the talk and so sorry for the repetitive blathering =\) and I guess things will get better eventually. I've been extremely lucky to have people who are here for me despite the flakiness that has become my defining characteristic as of late. Sometimes I feel like I've dropped off the face of this planet because it seems even to me that I don't really exist sometimes because the world seems to be moving on without me as I struggle to pick up what I dropped a few feet back. Which means I'm going to have a lot of catching up to do when this is all over. I'm probably being an idiot but what can you do? Thank you for your patience and support because it really means the world to me <3

alone

So yes...I was at work today. I left looking for all the world like a student with my slippers, UCI sweatshirt, and sad underpuffy eyes. Walking to the car through the empty parking lot felt a lot like leaving lab at some ungodly hour when I was in school. Except this time I'd be going back to an empty apartment.

Don't get me wrong, I actually really like living alone. There are some instances when I'd like to have my lovely roommates back, though. We all got to sit down and have a meal together which hasn't happened since June of last year. We had Sunday champagne brunch at Castaway in Burbank. It was nice. I miss living with them :(

But living alone is infinitely preferable to living with some stranger that I don't really know.

This past week has been a bittersweet one. Brian left this afternoon. We took a rather spontaneous overnight trip to Santa Barbara on Friday/Saturday and the late night drive up (we got there at about 1AM) was the most wonderful thing in the world.
