prom dress revival / happy birthday leanne!

WHOA never thought you'd see THAT dress again now did you?!

But let's start at the beginning ;)

So Leanne wanted to do something a little crazy for her 24th birthday (welcome to your late 20s love!) so she came up with this prom dress revival thing which I totally loved. So of course I got dolled up (my first time wearing fake lashes in public!) and went (and dragged poor, tired VV with me) even though that was the day we got back from New York =0. We started off with a dinner at Opah (an Opah is a kind of fish btw we looked it up @ dinner) and an afterparty at a nearby Marriott.

Poor, tired VV went home after dinner. Because he was tired. And he is old.

(I love you VV)

So we all made our way to the Marriott. I got there last I think...since I had to go to the bank and I stopped at the market to pick up some beer (Dos Equis and Kirin!).

Anyway, much picture taking ensued. I had one or two beers but I was fairly sober...until this.

Yes. We broke out the wine. It was basically all downhill from there. BUT. Before I got absolutely out of my mind GONE...much more picture taking was to be had.

Can you see how tight my dress is? UGH. It makes me sad because I actually had tried that dress on a few years ago to see how it fit and it was extremely loose. I'm sure all that alcohol didn't help ;P

And here we are, nearing the end. I think I ended up consuming about a bottle and a half's worth of wine that night before passing out on that bed. There are numerous photos of me sleeping at the end of the night :P I was pretty gone at this point and don't really remember anything that happened. Apparently I was dancing on a chair (dangerous!!!) and was trying to make Lina's boyfriend take a shot of vodka (oops).

I woke up the next morning feeling pretty awful and was pretty hungover for the rest of the day. But it's all good because it was GOOD TIMES and hell...Leanne got majorly drunk on my 24th birthday so hellsss yeah...?

Wow it's been a loooong time since I've done this kind of picture post!

As a sidenote, I've set a weight loss goal for the end of the year and for the end of March next year because *eep* both the scale and the mirror are starting to scare me.

Tomorrow is national skoochie day!

Yes! They day when girls all get to be super scandalously skanky and no one cares (or even notices half the time :P). It will also be the first time in 16 years (yes for serious) that I've dressed up =0 And no, my costume is not super scandalously skanky because quite frankly I don't have the body for that right now (see previous post). Maybe next year ;)

Time to shower!

Back in action

I feel super COLD and a little bit stressed/overwhelmed.

Oh and I feel really fat ;P

I'm really angry because I can't figure out how I lost so much weight that one summer whilst sitting on my ass eating popcorn chicken and drinking iced caramel macchiatos and watching back to back episodes of sex and the city. What was my secret?!

About New York...

Feelings about the city...

The city: I love being able to walk places and I love the public transportation. The streets are indeed dirty and it's waaaay too cold for being the middle of October. There's so much to do and so much to see and SO MUCH TO EAT. Which brings me to my next topic.

The food: Being in California is great. There's just as much food variety here as there is in New York. What I think is great about NYC is that all that food is so close together. It's all concentrated into a few square miles of culinary goodness! And you don't have to drive to or from any of it (yay for taxis and the metro!) so you can drink as much as you want at all these awesome restaurants!

The people: There are seriously so many different people all crammed together in one city. I feel like Southern California is so spread out that you don't get all that diversity in one place.

The shopping: I was kind of disappointed, actually =\ I think that I'd actually have to live in New York to really appreciate all the retail opportunities of the city.

I am so glad...

I had my Blackberry: No seriously. Looking up places on the fly? Priceless.

We got unlimited Metro cards: For seven days at least, which was perfect for us. I think we got our $25 worth.

We stayed where we did: Hilton Garden Inn Times Square. A decently sized hotel room with free internet access. Prices were reasonable enough. Location was convenient enough. All worked out fine.

What we loved

Pop Burger: VV loved this place. He loved it even more than the fancy meals we had during the week.

Sarita's Mac and Cheese: VV reallly loved this. He's such a mac and cheese fiend.

L'Ecole: Food prepared by students at the French Culinary Institute. Good deal for good food! I really liked it here!

Shake Shack: We both loved this place like you wouldn't believe. I swear it was one of the best burgers I'd ever had in my life. I have much love for In-n-Out, but I think Shake Shack is even better!

Fat Cat: We went here with Huntz and Charlene after meeting up with them for dinner at Joe's Shanghai in Chinatown. They have live music, pool tables, ping pong, shuffleboard, scrabble, chess, etc. Good call, Huntz!

Avenue Q: Xin was right, I loved this :D

New York, New York

Have the leaves changed in Central Park yet? Mmm...sort of. It'll probably be super gorgeous in another couple of weeks (when Damon and Sara go!).

The weather has been deadly cold, though. At least by my standards. Which may mean that it's not very cold at all :P

I think VV and I are going to try and hit some very touristy spots today. We'll see. We've been waking up rather late these past few days.

tidbits from life

SO!

Because I've been so MIA (well sort of) here's a whole post full of non-posts that generally wouldn't warrant a post but together they are one.

(heh that didn't even make sense)

Whilst in Maryland I needed more tampons so we went to get some on a food run to the grocery store (where I made the Korean sufficiently uncomfortable in the feminine hygiene aisle heh) and for some reason they felt the need to put my tampons in another bag within the grocery bag? A bag that said "Quality Meats" of all things?

-----------------------------------

VV, the brother and I went to dinner after work a couple of weeks ago.

VV: (watching my phone spin on the table) We could play spin the bottle!
Brother: (Looks at me, looks at VV) ...I don't like this game.

-----------------------------------

WE'RE GOING TO NUDE NEW YORK ON SATURDAY!!!

-----------------------------------

the Korean: I think by pickles...they mean beer.

Annnnddd....we were not in Torrance.

Sunday Lunch @ Cafe Metropol

Lunch at Cafe Metropol, just for the hell of it. Food was good. Service was so so. Not unfriendly but agonizingly slow. Ambiance was very nice. Food photos are saved for the Flickr :)

These photos have been slightly post-processed (obviously). It's been a while since I've posted photos of someone other than myself.

This last photo is of Denise's bracelets that I happen to like very much.

Back in action

Had lunch today with the four Nishi girls at Cafe Metropol. Photos to come at a later date (possibly much later given the catching up I have to do on Flickr) for sure.

Playing hooky from work (heh, when was the last time you heard that term??) and am hanging out with VV's fam-bam all day tomorrow. He has relatives he rarely sees visiting from the east coast so we are going to the (supposedly) happiest place on earth.

Heheh. Just kidding. I love Disneyland. No seriously. Even though it's filled with kids. Anyway, it's going to be a non-holiday Monday, so here's hoping the lines won't suck.

I got my new lenses a couple of weeks ago and I really super-adore the super-wide.

The only photo in which I look semi-retarded (as opposed to completely retarded) and you can't see aaall the vey down my shirt. FTW.

I don't have to fly out to MD any more :D :D

All plans are back on. And perhaps now I'll be able to actually enjoy my trip to New York this month (wooo)
