Happy/Sad

Was doing some more sorting of Japan photos (yep, still not done with those) and found these two that I totally forgot about. I took these of us while we were exploring the top floor of our Tokyo hotel with my brother.

---

VV and I went to his parents' place to have dinner. His doctor uncle (the one who went on the cruise with us) was there and after dinner he busted out a bag full of needles and vaccines. VV's mom told me "Some people have Botox parties. We have flu shot parties!" Naturally I freaked out and went to go sit in a dark corner to hide and whimper (I'm not even exaggerating) until he was done inoculating the family. What in the bollock'd hell?! HAPPY BIRTHDAY VV HERE'S YOUR FLU SHOT. JEEBUS. I'd rather get the flu than get a shot, I'm not even kidding.

I'm such a huge baby. Lame.

One of those posts

Happy birthday to my VV! He's 31 :D I want to read him this story tonight <3

---

We have an Ikea Expedit (not the one pictured below) shelf in the conference room. Sometimes during meetings I space out for a little while and stare at it, wondering if I could fit through one of the shelves.

---

Read this review on Yelp

"I ordered the shio butter. It came quick. I looked into my bowl and saw yummy noodles... and bamboo... and fish cake... AND a piece of butter.

The butter was a little unexpected. I hurried and tried to fish out the chunk of delicious butter out of my soup bowl. Although I love butter, I have been trying to eat a little bit healthier these days."

What the sheeziefuck? If you order something called shio butter ramen YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO BE SURPRISED WHEN YOU'RE SERVED RAMEN WITH BUTTER IN IT.

---

Enough rambling for today. Have a good weekend homefries.

In action

More photos! Finally!

The first one is a serious re-crop of another one and I think it looks like awesome sauce in black and white. And yay for blurring my face! It was madd warm in the garage and my face got all slimy so it's good you can't really see it.

Here are the yellow shoes being used. I think I love them. I wore them at least five times in the space of seven days. They're pretty comfortable for being 4.5". I know that to some of you 4.5" is nothing but please keep in mind that I'm a freaking midget so 4.5" is about half my height. Imagine if you were wearing heels that were half your height. Yeah, that's what I thought.

I'm not sure if I was supposed to be standing on that. Don't tell VV. And that second picture is me falling off because I really am just that clumsy.

ATTENTION(?)

In the last post I mentioned that maybe I should start thinking about getting a portfolio together. After a little bit of thought I kind of felt like "Hey it couldn't hurt!" so I've decided that I should a) get some good practice in and b) get a portfolio put together for whenever I decide to start actively pursuing photography a side job. Well, and I guess also c) figure out whether I'm actually any good at what I want to do...HA. That probably should have been first on my list.

To any of my IRL friends (IRL as in "In Real Life" for those of you who have better things to do than remember inane internet acronyms) if you're willing to let me practice on you (you by yourself, you with your SO, you w/ a friend etc.) please let me know! Leave a comment or send me an email or call me or whatever. I'll be eternally grateful!

Just keep in mind that if I like how some of your photos come out, I'll probably end up putting them in an online portfolio. I'll let you know beforehand, of course. In exchange you'll get a disc of your images. FREE PHOTOSHOOT DUDES.

K back to work.

Behind the scenes

Kay so a looong time ago (I think maybe in the spring or something) I broke down and bought a pair of Louboutins (TWISTOCHATS!)....they were pretty heavily discounted but still dude...not cheap. Anyway, haven't worn them because the strap on the back is a bit loose (my heels are weirdly narrow or something) and I've been too lazy to take them in to a cobbler to get it fixed.

And hurrr is a photo of the setup I was using. I'm so pro. Yes I'm lying on the garage floor even though VV hasn't cleaned it in like 2 months or something.

Speaking of pro, I was thinking of trying to build a portrait portfolio to maybe freelance as a photographer on the side? It seems like it might be fun. Maybe engagement sessions. Something. Must think about this some more.

Annnnd in other news, yesterday the office building (but not our actual office *whew*) smelled faintly of some weird combination of paint, rotting fruit and something else really disgusting that I can't quite pinpoint. Kind of like if someone ate paint and rotting fruit and puked it all up on the stairs and cleaned it up but you could still smell a hint of paintfruit vomit in the air. It's gone today. I am glad.

Mirror mirror

Playing with a mirror in the garage. Why didn't I think of this sooner. No photoshop (aside from cropping). Have a headache. Yogurt gave me modified milk breath. $@#$ Hump Day.

wtf

On Friday VV and I got dinner at a BBQ place close to home. We were talking as I was finishing my beer and suddenly he nodded at the rib bone sitting on his plate and said "We should take that home for the dog." WTF WE DON'T HAVE A DOG.

Yesterday we had some good times in K-town eating/drinking/singing. Got kind of hammered for the first time in a while. VV and I got back to Orange County at around 3am or something, got food from Jack in the Box and then went home and watched an episode of Lost while we ate haaa.

Tired today.

Reevaluate

I have stuff to post but I haven't been interneting the way I usually do. Instead of perusing blogs I've been getting lost in the mazes of Wikipedia, IMDB, Mental Floss, and other such websites. I think I've come to realize that a lot of the time, random blogs of people that I don't know generally end up making me feel bad about myself. But more on that some other time.

As I've said before, I've been spending more time trying to get to the gym regularly and trying to eat right (most of the time)--i.e. taking care of myself instead of taking pictures of myself. My interest in self-portraits/portraits and photography in general hasn't waned but it's taken a back burner position for now. Also, I just bought an anthology of Grimm's fairy tales that will likely consume the hour or so before bed that I usually spend on the internet. Man I'm lame. But fairy tales are so awesomely gruesome and twisted (just read one about a king who chopped off his kids' heads to bring a dead servant back to life) that I can't help myself.

Will update with photos within the next couple of days or so! They're sitting on my hard drive right now...just need to delazify and get them edited/uploaded.

Yellow

Disclaimer: I'm somewhat buzzed so please excuse any typos and I really hope that my HTML is valid.

So for whatever reason I've been feeling that mustardy yellows go with everything i.e. IT'S A NEUTRAL. Probably a misconception, but I finally found a great pair of patent leather not-too-bright pair of platform sandals recently and I think I love them.

I think I first fell in love with the idea of mustardy platforms when I saw the Marni crossed slingback sandals on Net-A-Porter. Unfortunately the $845 price tag was kind of disheartening...and when they dropped to a more reasonable (but still pretty $$$) $300-something my size was sold out. Of course. I also found a pair of patent leather sandals I liked on Solestruck (Enzo Angiolini's 'Legs') but again they were sold out of my size. I had pretty much given up hunting for the perfect pair when, on a whim, I decided to browse the Nordstrom anniversary sale online and found 4.5" of yellow patent glory in the form of a pair of Linea Paolo platforms. YES. I bought them on the spot and finally got around to wearing them a couple of days ago. Totally awesome.

Personally, I think they'd look great with a pair of gray tights come fall.

Anyway, gotta get some sleep. Methinks it's going to be a long day tomorrow. Happy Labor Day weekend everyone!

Here for an update...sort of

Okay so I've been neglecting the blog. I can't even say it's because nothing interesting has been happening because that's a lie.

- Got to see two recently engaged friends (EVERYONE IS GETTING ENGAGED/MARRIED) a week or so ago.
- The Counselor and the Korean got an apartment together...and it's walking distance from VV's place.

And I think some other stuff happened but I forgot already. Hmph.

Anyway, I've been falling off the picture-taking train since returning from Japan. Been busy Flickring my trip. Also, have been busy battling allergies (one attack caused one of my eyes to swell) and madd breakouts (deadly combo of travel and PMS) and as a result have not been very much inclined to do any self-portraits.

Whoops, got distracted in the middle of this entry after VV sent me a mental_floss article. In any case, there will be more interesting content coming up within the next day or two, I promise!
